Moasure® 2 PRO

Moasure has a lot of great features, and I love the ability to measure elevations, use different line tools, and export in multiple formats. However, it’s not the easiest tool to use. Accuracy can be hit or miss, especially over large areas or on soft, damp ground—like wet leaves or uneven terrain—where it often fails to read points correctly. Multi-layer measurements have also been inconsistent. While the technology is impressive, the learning curve is steep, and better instructions would help. It’s a useful tool for smaller areas, but it needs refinements to be more reliable.

I'm skeptical by nature and the first few times I used it my errors were more than they should have been. Now that I've taken more care to the fundamentals of using it, my success rate is consistent and reliable.

We have a large piece of property and are in the process of rebuilding after a forest fire in 2022. The property is on a hillside so there are many elevation changes. Previously I had used a transit when I wanted to measure portions of the property and to determine elevation changes. The transit is a great tool, but it takes quite a bit of work to really get an accurate layout, especially of elevation data.

Now with the Moasure I am able to measure large pieces of the property easily and quickly. Recently I have been using a program called Home Designer Pro to design our new house and landscaping. The program allows you to import terrain data and I was able to use the data from Moasure directly in the program. It took me a little while to get everything lined up, but now that I have it is completely accurate. I've added a couple of photos of the Moasure project I'm working on and the Home Designer file with the elevation data shown in 3D. The Moasure project consists of 4 layers and covers a combined 34,000 square feet. The 2D view of the Home Designer project shows the Moasure points as red crosses and the elevation contours are at 1" increments. The 3D view shows actual rendered elevations.

I still have a lot of work to do on my project, but figured I'd share what I've accomplished so far. I'm not one who typically gives glowing reviews, but in this case I find very little to complain about. This device is incredible and I'm so glad I purchased it. I only wish Moasure was a public company so I could buy stock from them. :-)

We use Moasure to check drainage in curbs, hardscape areas, and landscape areas. It it super easy for these measurements (mainly elevation checks). We have also used it in "wall mode" to create floor plans for floor slab manometer surveys. We are able to create pretty accurate (for our purposes, anyway) floor plans in minutes with this thing.

Using the Moasure tool has played a key role in keeping an accurate count of how much salt we are using in events. It also allows me to accurately measure cuts and fills for large earth moving projects, as well as walls and patios!

I did a pool rennovation where I filled in the deep end and needed a "yards of concrete" estimate and a new resulting pool gallon capacity calculation. The moasure provided accurate results for both.

We have been using the devise for a couple of months. We mostly need it on vacant sites with wetlands and ditches. We found it impossible to use in the water as is. So, we designed and built this stand out of pvc. It has a spike on the bottom to put in the water and a platform to put the disc/puck on it. With multiple stands we can leapfrog to the next point in seven seconds. We have not tested it fully yet. We do not have a video yet.

We needed to develop a process for taking accurate measurements of large staircases, ramps, elevations, retaining walls, etc. So we can fabricate railings, staircases, spiral staircases and many other things. Moasure gives us a great and easy to use product that makes terribly hard measurements much easier. We have since developed a process to input our moasure points into Autodesk Inventor, and make life so much easier for drafting railings.
